This corner of Barnet holds a Grade II listed fire station, a church with 13th century origins, a 26 storey tower at West Hendon and estates built on the former Hendon Aerodrome and police college land. Each asks something different of a fire alarm or a camera.
IDS Global has traded since 2011 and is a member of the IFSM and the FPA. From its Hayes head office, the A40, the A406 North Circular and the A41 at Brent Cross lead to Hendon.
Businesses and buildings in Hendon & Colindale
The Greater London Authority's 2025 portrait of the Colindale and Burnt Oak Opportunity Area gives it 250 hectares across Barnet and Brent and a London Plan capacity of 7,000 homes and 2,000 jobs by 2041. Barnet's Local Plan, adopted in 2025, designates Colindale a Growth Area. At Colindale Gardens, on the former Hendon Police College site, Barratt Redrow said in February 2026 that 2,888 of 4,041 homes had been delivered. Grahame Park, built on the aerodrome, began with 1,777 council homes in the 1970s. The RAF Museum on Grahame Park Way has six hangars and free entry.
In West Hendon, a late 1960s estate of about 680 homes gave way to Hendon Waterside, whose 26 storey Hawfinch House stands 85 metres tall, and a 2018 planning approval added a 28 storey tower as part of 732 more homes. Middlesex University's Hendon campus on The Burroughs has over 12,000 students. Barnet designates four industrial sites in the Colindale area, including Colindale Technology Park, Hurricane Industrial Park and Propeller Way, and the GLA counted more than 11,000 jobs there in 2023, mostly in public administration and health.
