Fire Risk Assessments by IDS Global

Fire Safety & Security Services in Shepperton

Fire risk assessments, fire alarm installation, CCTV and access control for care providers, retailers, riverside operators and business park occupiers in Shepperton, Upper Halliford and Littleton.

Shepperton pairs a listed village core around Church Square with a High Street, a business park beside the railway station, a marina on Felix Lane and Shepperton Studios. The Local Plan names Shepperton, with Staines, as the worst flood-affected part of the borough, which shapes where equipment can safely be mounted.

IDS Global has traded since 2011 from one office at 27-37 Station Road, Hayes, and is a member of the IFSM and the FPA. From Hayes the A312 Parkway runs to the A30 interchange at Hatton, and M3 junction 1 is roughly three miles from Shepperton Business Park.

Businesses and buildings in Shepperton

Spelthorne's Local Plan, adopted in March 2026, names Shepperton as one of three district centres, alongside Ashford and Sunbury Cross. It describes the town as mainly residential, with a significant local shopping centre and a business park, and Shepperton Studios as its major commercial site. A council working paper written during the Covid pandemic counted about 82 units in and around the High Street, mostly retail, including a post office and a library. The plan allocates the Royal Mail delivery office site at 47 High Street for about 10 homes over shops. That is an allocation, not a permission.

Shepperton Business Park, on Govett Avenue immediately east of the railway station, is marketed with units such as a 4,590 sq ft warehouse with first-floor offices and an electrically operated loading door. On the river, Shepperton Marina on Felix Lane offers moorings, craneage, chandlery, repairs and boat sales, and rents out office space. CQC lists The Burlington on Manygate Lane and Charlton Grange on Charlton Lane, Upper Halliford Village, as care homes for adults over 65, both offering dementia care.

The conservation area appraisal says commercial use now predominates on Church Square, in buildings that were built as houses. The King's Head and Warren Lodge Hotel are both Grade II listed, and the Anchor Hotel is on the local list.

We assess each building as a whole, from ground floor to roof, and issue a prioritised action plan that respects historic fabric.

Fire Alarm Installation in Shepperton

Care homes such as The Burlington and Charlton Grange both offer dementia care. In a home like this the alarm has to show staff exactly where to go.

We design and install BS 5839 systems with zone charts, addressable detection and sounders suited to bedrooms and lounges. The same approach fits offices and units at the business park.

CCTV Installation in Shepperton

Police.uk records for August 2025 to July 2026 show about 59 shoplifting offences inside the Shepperton and Halliford neighbourhood boundary, against about four in Shepperton and Laleham.

For High Street shops we cover tills, entrances and rear service doors. For yards, marina compounds and units on Govett Avenue we place cameras on gates and loading doors, with recording your team can hand to the police.

Access Control in Shepperton

Pinewood says more than 150 businesses operate on the Shepperton Studios lot, and the marina rents out office space as well as moorings. Sites like these can hold tenants, visitors and contractors on one estate.

Cards or fobs on individual doors let a manager decide who reaches which building or floor, and a lost card can be cancelled without changing a lock.

Shepperton Studios and the Local Plan

The Local Plan names Shepperton Studios as one of five Strategic Employment Areas and the preferred location for new film and television studio use, though not for new office and research space. Pinewood lists 31 stages with over 950,000 sq ft of stage space, the largest at 59,092 sq ft, and workshops from 600 sq ft to 14,000 sq ft.

Outline permission for redevelopment and expansion, with new sound stages, workshops, offices, security offices and backlots, was granted on 4 July 2019, and reserved matters were approved on 16 April 2021. An officers' report for the 27 May 2026 planning committee, on an acoustic fence at Car Park 11, says the reserved matters for that area have been fully implemented. It recommended approving longer unit base hours, from 65 to 106 hours a week, including 05:00 to 23:00 on weekdays.

Shepperton and Upper Halliford conservation areas

Spelthorne designated Shepperton Conservation Area in February 1970, and its appraisal was prepared in March 2024. The Church of St Nicholas and the Rectory on Church Square are Grade II*, as is the Manor House on Church Road.

It lists a prominent pole carrying numerous CCTV cameras and floodlights at a car sales garage as a feature that detracts from the area, and says security cameras should be as discreet as possible. Upper Halliford Conservation Area, designated in February 1993, has an appraisal from April 2024 that gives the same advice.

Thames flooding and fire cover

The Local Plan says about 20% of the borough's urban area is liable to flood, or be surrounded by floodwater, in a 1 in 100 year event, with some 5,600 homes in that zone, and that Staines and Shepperton are the worst affected areas. For riverside and ground-floor premises, panels, recorders and cabling belong above likely water levels.

Fordbridge station, on Kingston Road, has a wholetime crew round the clock and a day crew. Surrey Fire and Rescue says it attends automatic alarms at non-domestic business premises only when a fire is confirmed, and advises keeping key holder details with the monitoring company accurate.

Recorded crime in the Shepperton neighbourhoods

We counted police.uk street-level crimes inside each Surrey Police neighbourhood boundary for August 2025 to July 2026. Police.uk anonymises locations, so the figures are approximate. Shepperton and Halliford recorded about 616 crimes, including 59 shoplifting, 21 burglaries, 18 vehicle crimes and 7 robberies. Shepperton and Laleham recorded about 442, with 23 vehicle crimes, 22 burglaries and 4 shoplifting.

Shoplifting is far higher in the first neighbourhood, while burglary counts are close in the two. That favours CCTV on shops and intruder detection on quieter premises and yards.

Frequently asked questions

Will the fire service turn out if the alarm sounds at our Shepperton unit overnight?

Only once a fire is confirmed. Surrey Fire and Rescue applies that rule to non-domestic business premises at all hours. If nobody is on site, a monitoring company with accurate key holder details can send someone to check the panel and call 999 if there is a fire.

Can you fit CCTV to a pub on Church Square?

Usually, with care. The King's Head and Warren Lodge Hotel are Grade II listed and the appraisal wants security cameras kept as discreet as possible. We survey first, favour compact housings and hidden cable routes, and advise you to check with Spelthorne Borough Council before anything is fixed to a listed building.

What should a care home fire alarm in Shepperton include?

Both The Burlington and Charlton Grange offer dementia care, so staff need a clear zone chart on the panel and sounders that suit bedrooms. We design around how residents would be helped out, and the fire risk assessment covers the whole building.

Do you cover Upper Halliford and Littleton as well as Shepperton?

Yes. IDS Global works from its Hayes office and covers Upper Halliford, Littleton and the rest of TW17. Upper Halliford has its own conservation area, so we agree camera and cable positions before starting work on visible frontages.
