Fire Safety Compliance & Maintenance in Yateley

Fire risk assessments, fire alarm servicing, fire door inspections and security system maintenance for shops, care providers, landlords and business park occupiers in Yateley, Darby Green and Frogmore.

Yateley is a Hampshire town of three communities, each set around a green. Its shops and civic buildings run along the B3272 Reading Road, Blackbushe Airport lies north of the A30, and Blackbushe Business Park is a protected employment area. The parish holds three conservation areas and 23 statutorily listed buildings.

IDS Global has traded since 2011 from 27-37 Station Road, Hayes, and is a member of the IFSM and the FPA. We reach GU46 from Hayes on the M25 and M3, then the A30 and Reading Road.

Businesses and buildings in Yateley

The Yateley, Darby Green and Frogmore Neighbourhood Plan places the village centre along Reading Road between Hall Lane and Cricket Hill Lane, and records that the Hart Local Plan names Yateley as a district centre. The main shops are here, including a strong convenience food store, food and drink outlets and other services. A survey in September 2021 found very low vacancy in the principal shopping area.

Away from the parades, the plan treats Blackbushe Business Park as a Locally Important Employment Area in the Local Plan, where employment use is generally protected. Blackbushe Airport, mostly inside the parish on the north side of the A30, employed about 100 people when the plan was written and is home to corporate jets, four flying schools and a flying charity. The plan also records the Casa Hotel on Handford Lane and offices at Yateley Lodge on Cricket Hill Lane. Willow Gardens Care Home at Hampshire Lakes is registered with the CQC for dementia care among other categories.

Fire Risk Assessments by IDS Global

Fire Risk Assessments in Yateley

A Reading Road parade, a hotel on Handford Lane, offices at Cricket Hill and a care home at Hampshire Lakes have little in common, so each assessment is written for the building in front of us. We look at how people use it, who sleeps there, where the escape routes run and who is responsible for each part.

Every assessment ends in a written action plan ranked by priority.

Fire Alarm Servicing in Yateley

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service asks occupiers to test their alarm weekly and to have it maintained by a competent person. Our servicing visits cover detectors, the panel, sounders and standby batteries, and we record every fault found.

The service also names poorly maintained systems, aerosol sprays and cooking fumes as causes of false alarms, so we look closely at detectors near kitchens and other heat or steam sources.

Fire Door Inspections in Yateley

The fire service treats hotels and care homes as sleeping-risk premises, and Yateley has both, including Willow Gardens at Hampshire Lakes, which is registered for adults over 65 and for dementia care.

We inspect each leaf, frame, seal, closer, hinge and gap door by door, photograph every defect and list repairs in priority order. A heritage building gets the same survey, with recommendations worded to respect the fabric.

CCTV and Intruder Alarm Maintenance in Yateley

Police.uk records for the Yateley, Blackwater and Hawley neighbourhood show about 72 shoplifting offences, 39 vehicle crimes and 28 burglaries in the twelve months to July 2026. The plan notes that Blackbushe Airport is open to the public and popular for walks around its perimeter.

A maintenance visit checks that each camera still covers the entrance or yard it was set up for, that the recorder holds footage for the period you expect, and that intruder alarm sensors, keypads and signalling still work.

Conservation areas and the 1979 fire at St Peter's

Three conservation areas run along Reading Road. Yateley Green was first designated in 1977, Cricket Hill in March 1988 and Darby Green in 1988.

The Yateley Society records that arson gutted St Peter's Church on the morning of Saturday 5 May 1979. It destroyed the whole interior except the north porch, the vestry and the bottom half of the wooden tower, and the church was partly rebuilt and enlarged to the south. It is listed Grade II and stands in the Yateley Green conservation area.

Yateley Common and heathland fire

Yateley Common Country Park covers 476 acres of grassland, ponds, woodland and heathland, is managed by Hampshire County Council and is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

On 14 July 2022 a fire in gorse and undergrowth on the common spread across about 35 hectares. Fifteen people were evacuated from seven properties in Stroud Lane, and more than 60 firefighters attended at the peak, with crews from 18 Hampshire stations. The service's advice at the time was not to light bonfires, barbecues or campfires in the countryside.

Recorded crime in the Yateley neighbourhood

We counted police.uk street-level records for August 2025 to July 2026 inside the boundary of the Hampshire Constabulary neighbourhood named Yateley, Blackwater and Hawley. It takes in Darby Green, Frogmore and most of Blackbushe Airport. Police.uk anonymises locations, so the figures are approximate.

They total about 1,220 records: 483 violent crime, 231 anti-social behaviour, 138 criminal damage and arson, 74 other theft, 72 shoplifting, 39 vehicle crime and 28 burglary.

Yateley fire station and daytime alarm calls

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service lists Yateley Fire Station at Reading Road, GU46 7UD, within its North Hants area.

Since 1 August 2025 the service has not automatically sent crews to alarms in commercial buildings with no sleeping risk between 08:00 and 18:00, unless there are confirmed signs of fire. It says over 97% of such calls turned out to be false. Hotels, hospitals, care homes, houses and flats keep their response, and its summary lists heritage buildings among the exceptions.

Frequently asked questions

Will fire crews attend if the alarm goes off at our Yateley shop or office in the daytime?

Not automatically. Since 1 August 2025 Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has not sent crews to alarms at commercial buildings with no sleeping risk between 08:00 and 18:00 unless there are confirmed signs of fire, and it still responds to 999 calls. Its checklist asks occupiers to investigate every activation, so name who checks the panel and who calls 999.

Does a shared house in Yateley need an HMO licence from Hart?

Hart District Council says a property let to at least three people from different households sharing a bathroom or kitchen is an HMO, and that you may need a licence if it is let to five or more. Its 2026 to 2027 initial fees are £893 for five people and £1,121 for six to ten. We carry out fire risk assessments and fire door inspections for landlords.

Can you assess or service alarms in a listed building or conservation area property in Yateley?

Yes. An assessment or door inspection does not alter the building. The parish has 23 statutorily listed buildings, including the White Lion and St Peter's Church, and three conservation areas. Before anything is fixed to a listed building we advise checking with Hart District Council.

How often should a Yateley business test and service its fire alarm?

The fire service's checklist for businesses says the system should be tested weekly and kept in good working order by a competent person. The weekly test belongs to your responsible person. A servicing visit from IDS Global goes further, checking detectors, panel, sounders and batteries, and leaves you a written record of faults.

Do you cover Darby Green, Frogmore and the Blackbushe area as well as Yateley village?

Yes. We cover GU46, including Darby Green, Frogmore and the Blackbushe area, from our Hayes head office. We maintain CCTV, intruder alarms and access control at business premises and can service the fire alarm on the same visit.
