Businesses and buildings in Fulham

Fulham has two centres of gravity. Around Fulham Broadway station, which was called Walham Green until 1952, a shopping mall with a cinema sits beside the junction of North End Road and Harwood Road, and Fulham Town Hall is Grade II listed. North End Road has held a street market since the late nineteenth century. Further west, Parsons Green is a residential district around a green bounded by the New King's Road, with Victorian terraces such as Pitts Place.

South of the Fulham Road the character changes. Sands End grew up around a gasworks from 1824 and a brewery from 1890, and its old industrial land now holds Hurlingham Retail Park, supermarkets and business centres along Wandsworth Bridge Road. Chelsea Harbour, on Chelsea Creek, combines 310 apartments, a marina, a hotel and a design centre with more than 70 showrooms.

Fire Alarm Installation in Fulham

On 7 August 2026 a plant room fire on the first floor of a 12-storey hotel on Lillie Road led to about 450 people being evacuated. Hotels, flats and student accommodation are places where people are asleep or unfamiliar with the building, so the alarm has to be heard and understood by everyone quickly.

We design and install BS 5839 systems for hotels, mixed-use blocks and venues, with zoning that lets staff see whether a signal comes from a plant room, a bedroom corridor or a kitchen before they decide how to evacuate.

Fire Risk Assessments by IDS Global

Fire Risk Assessments in Fulham

Parsons Green has Victorian terraces, and North End Road has traded as a street market since the late nineteenth century. Where an older building has been divided into flats or has homes over a shop, the escape route and stair enclosure need checking against how the building is used now. We assess the whole building, from the shopfront to the top landing, and rank the actions by risk.

For hotels, restaurants and event spaces near the two stadiums, we assess capacity, escape widths and staff procedures against the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

CCTV Installation in Fulham

Police.uk records for August 2025 to July 2026 show about 230 shoplifting offences inside the Walham Green neighbourhood boundary, against about 83 in Fulham Town and fewer than 50 in every other SW6 neighbourhood we counted. That is the trading heart of Fulham Broadway and North End Road.

We place cameras over tills, doors, stockrooms and loading points, and set up recording that a manager can export for the police without specialist help.

Access Control by IDS Global

Access Control in Fulham

The riverside districts are filling with new mixed-use buildings, where residents, retail tenants, contractors and deliveries all pass through shared doors. Fob or card readers on the residential core, plant and bin stores, and staff areas let a managing agent decide who reaches each part, and cancel a lost credential without changing locks.

South Fulham Riverside and King's Road Park

The South Fulham Riverside Regeneration Area is turning former gas and industrial land into homes and workplaces. The developer of King's Road Park describes a 16-acre former gasworks site with over 1,800 homes, including 128 for retired veterans, six acres of open space and 100,000 square feet of commercial and community space expected to support 472 permanent jobs. A Grade II listed gasholder is being kept as a centrepiece. Imperial Wharf station opened on 27 September 2009 and Chelsea Harbour lies beside Chelsea Creek.

Stamford Bridge, Craven Cottage and Martyn's Law

Stamford Bridge on the Fulham Road holds 40,044 seats and has two hotels in the Chelsea Village complex. Craven Cottage, beside the Thames and Bishop's Park, holds 28,107, and its Johnny Haynes Stand and the Cottage are Grade II listed. Under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, which received Royal Assent in April 2025, ProtectUK says requirements begin at least 24 months afterwards. The standard tier covers 200 to 799 people, and the enhanced tier 800 or more.

Fulham Palace and other listed buildings

Fulham Palace has been Grade I listed since 1954, and its moated site is a scheduled monument. Fulham Palace Trust runs it as a museum with a cafe. Elsewhere in SW6, Fulham Town Hall, Fulham Fire Station and the villa at 282 North End Road are Grade II listed. Any alarm, camera or door work on such buildings should be planned with the owner and the council before anything is fixed.

Fulham fire station and daytime alarm calls

Fulham Fire Station stands at 685 Fulham Road, SW6, is Grade II listed and dates from 1895 to 1896. London Fire Brigade does not attend automatic alarms between 7am and 8.30pm unless a 999 call confirms a fire, but hotels, flats, HMOs, care homes, schools and Grade I, II and II* listed buildings are exempt and are still attended. In 2025 automatic alarms made up 34% of the Brigade's incidents, and fewer than 1% of non-residential alarm calls were real fires.

Recorded crime across SW6

We counted police.uk street-level crimes for August 2025 to July 2026 inside six Metropolitan Police neighbourhood boundaries, using simplified outlines, so the figures are approximate. Walham Green recorded about 1,507 crimes, including 230 shoplifting, 52 burglaries and 45 bicycle thefts. Munster recorded about 110 vehicle crimes, and Sands End about 81 vehicle crimes and 70 burglaries. Burglary ran between 52 and 70 in each neighbourhood.

Frequently asked questions

Will the fire brigade attend an alarm at our Fulham hotel during the day?

Yes. London Fire Brigade lists hotels, guest accommodation and hostels among the premises it attends at any hour, without waiting for a 999 call. That means every false alarm sends crews, so choose detectors carefully for kitchens and plant rooms, and test the system regularly. We design and maintain systems that reduce unwanted signals.

Does Martyn's Law apply to a bar or event space near Stamford Bridge?

It may. The Act applies to certain public premises and events, with a standard tier for 200 to 799 people and an enhanced tier for 800 or more. ProtectUK says requirements come into force at least 24 months after Royal Assent in April 2025. We can review alarms, CCTV and door control alongside your procedures.

Which part of Fulham has the most shoplifting?

Police.uk data for August 2025 to July 2026 puts Walham Green highest, at about 230 offences inside the neighbourhood boundary, against about 83 in Fulham Town. Palace and Hurlingham recorded about three. Figures are approximate.

Can you add a fire alarm or CCTV to a listed building in Fulham?

Yes, with planning. Fulham Palace is Grade I listed and the Johnny Haynes Stand at Craven Cottage is Grade II. We survey first, choose compact equipment, run cables discreetly and advise you to check with the council before anything is fixed to a listed structure, as some work may need consent.

Is burglary a risk for offices and shops away from Fulham Broadway?

Yes. Police.uk records for August 2025 to July 2026 show roughly 52 to 70 burglaries in each of the six SW6 neighbourhoods we counted, even where shoplifting is low. Munster and Palace and Hurlingham record more vehicle crime than shoplifting. An intruder alarm and rear-access CCTV are worth considering.
