The London Borough of Hounslow Additional Licensing of HMOs Scheme (4) 2025 was designated on 11 September 2025, came into force on 11 December 2025 and runs to 10 December 2030. It applies to HMOs with three or more occupiers in two or more households that do not already need a mandatory licence, and to certain section 257 converted buildings held in single ownership. Operating an unlicensed HMO is an offence carrying an unlimited fine or a civil penalty of up to £30,000. Hounslow does not run a selective licensing scheme.

The council's licence conditions require a smoke alarm on each storey with living accommodation, escape routes kept clear and in good repair, residents told the fire procedure, and carbon monoxide alarms beside fixed combustion appliances other than gas cookers.

Heston Village and Cranford Village conservation areas

Hounslow has 29 conservation areas. Heston Village was designated on 25 November 1974, and its appraisal places the special interest around St Leonard's Church, the war memorial and a group of early eighteenth century buildings; it also includes the 1960s Wheatlands Estate. Cranford Village followed on 25 June 1991, running along the High Street between the Bath Road, the River Crane and the Parkway, with a grade II listed house and stables and an 1838 grade II listed lock-up.
