Businesses and buildings in Isleworth

Hounslow's draft Local Plan 2020 to 2041, in its July 2024 Regulation 19 version, lists Isleworth and Old Isleworth among the borough's seven large neighbourhood centres, with the war memorial as the focal point in Isleworth and the Public Hall in Old Isleworth. Its Isleworth chapter backs South Street and the London Road and Twickenham Road parades. The examination was still running in September 2026.

The plan names Clock Tower Road Industrial Estate, Victory Business Centre and Worton Hall Industrial Estate as locally significant industrial sites, and calls Sky a major employer. Sky's campus on Grant Way has nine buildings, three of them with television studios. West Middlesex University Hospital is on Twickenham Road, and Charlotte House on Snowy Fielder Waye, which the Care Quality Commission lists for nursing and dementia care. A January 2023 committee report recommended approval of a five-storey diagnostic centre at the hospital, with conditions for Secured by Design accreditation and a CCTV scheme.

Fire Risk Assessments by IDS Global

Fire Risk Assessments in Isleworth

The Spring Grove appraisal describes a Victorian estate of tall villas and notes a trend towards flats in infill and backland schemes. Lancaster House, a Grade II Gothic former college, was converted to residential use after Brunel University left in the mid-2000s.

We assess converted and multi-let buildings as a whole, covering escape routes, compartmentation, detection, emergency lighting and signage, then write an action plan ranked by priority. For shared houses, the assessment also supports a licence application.

Fire Doors by IDS Global

Fire Door Installation in Isleworth

The appraisal's property schedule lists flats 1 to 72 at Lancaster House and flats 1 to 12 at George Little House. In a building with that many front doors, the flat entrances, corridor doors and stair doors all form part of the escape route.

We supply and fit certified fire doors with closers, seals and vision panels where needed, and on a listed building we recommend agreeing the design with the council before work starts.

Fire Alarm Systems by IDS Global

Fire Alarm Installation in Isleworth

On 13 June 2026 a fire on Summerwood Road damaged parts of ground, first and second floor flats. About 30 people left before crews arrived and about 18 were taken to a rest centre.

We design and install BS 5839 systems for blocks of flats, care homes and mixed-use buildings, with zoning and panel information planned so staff or a responsible person can find the source of an alarm quickly.

Units on the Clock Tower Road estate are marketed with first-floor offices, three-phase power and electric loading doors, on a gated site with CCTV and security patrols.

For a tenant, we cover the loading door, yard and office entrance, and agree with the landlord where estate systems end and yours begin. Police.uk counts for the Isleworth neighbourhood include about 157 vehicle crimes in twelve months.

Old Isleworth, Church Street and the riverside conservation area

Isleworth Riverside became a conservation area on 11 November 1972, and the council's appraisal calls it the largest in the borough. It takes in Syon Park, where Syon House is Grade I, and Church Street, where All Saints Church and the London Apprentice pub, both Grade II*, stand beside a Thames slipway. South Street has been the main shopping area since the seventeenth century, and the Grade II Isleworth Public Hall dates from 1863.

Among the threats the appraisal lists are pressure on historic buildings that leads to damage to fabric, including from theft, and overly large flues on commercial premises. We agree camera and cable positions before fixing, use compact housings, and suggest confirming any listed building with the council first.

Spring Grove, Osterley Park and the Brunel campus site

Spring Grove was designated on 18 April 2002 and Osterley Park on 19 April 1988. Osterley House is Grade I, and the National Trust, which manages the house and park at Jersey Road, lists a café, cycle hire and events. A venue that mixes visitors, catering and old fabric needs an assessment that reflects the crowd on the day.

The council's committee report records that consent for the Brunel University Osterley Campus was formally approved on 25 October 2006: 324 new flats in six blocks, conversion of Grade II Lancaster House and the George Little Building, 47 townhouses, new public open space and 411 parking spaces. For a managing agent, shared entrances and car parks are the places to review door entry and cameras.

Crime in Isleworth, Osterley and Spring Grove

We counted police.uk street-level crimes inside each Metropolitan Police neighbourhood boundary for August 2025 to July 2026. Police.uk anonymises locations, so the figures are approximate. Isleworth recorded about 1,402 crimes, including 157 vehicle crimes, 60 shoplifting offences, 49 burglaries and 22 bicycle thefts. Osterley and Spring Grove recorded about 1,211, including 111 vehicle crimes, 88 burglaries and 64 shoplifting offences.

Fire calls on Clocktower Road and daytime alarms

On 3 July 2026 crews from Heston and Twickenham attended a warehouse fire on Clocktower Road. Four engines and around 25 firefighters were sent, and an external extraction unit serving the warehouse was destroyed. The Brigade's report gave the cause as under investigation.

London Fire Brigade does not attend automatic alarms between 7am and 8.30pm unless a 999 call confirms a fire, but hospitals, care homes, flats, HMOs, schools, nurseries and Grade I, II and II* listed buildings are on its exempt list. In 2025 alarms made up 34% of the incidents it attended, and it says fewer than 1% of calls from non-residential alarms are recorded as fires.

Frequently asked questions

Does a shared house in Isleworth or Spring Grove need an HMO licence?

Very likely. Hounslow's mandatory scheme covers HMOs with five or more people from two or more households, and its additional scheme, borough-wide from 11 December 2025, covers three or more. In September 2026 the council's fees page listed a base fee of £1,608 (£1,509 for accredited landlords) plus £25 per household, and a licence lasts five years. IDS Global can carry out the fire risk assessment and upgrade alarms and fire doors before you apply.

Can IDS Global fit CCTV to a listed pub or shop in Old Isleworth?

Yes, with care. The London Apprentice and All Saints Church on Church Street are both Grade II*, and the conservation appraisal flags theft from historic buildings as a pressure. We survey first, favour compact housings and internal cable routes, and recommend you check with Hounslow Council before anything is fixed to a listed building.

Will the fire brigade attend an alarm at an Isleworth care home or block of flats during the day?

Yes. Care homes, flats, HMOs and hospitals are on London Fire Brigade's list of premises it attends at any hour, so every activation sends crews. We design and maintain systems for residential buildings on that basis.

What CCTV do I need for a unit on the Clock Tower Road estate?

The estate listing mentions gates, 24-hour access, CCTV and security patrols. IDS Global surveys your own unit, including the loading door, yard, office entrance and stock areas, and agrees with your landlord where estate systems end and yours begin.
